Our Goal
The National Campaign for Summer Learning seeks to secure at least $50 million in new public investment for high-quality summer learning programs by the end of 2012. The Campaign will meet this goal by supporting legislation at the federal, state, and local levels that creates or expands funding for summer learning programs. In particular, we will address the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act as an important opportunity to embed summer learning in federal education policy. Additionally, the Campaign will work closely with state and local policymakers to utilize the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and other federal, state and local funding to spur innovative investments in summer learning throughout the nation. (Check out Progress to see how we’re doing.)
Who We Are
The National Campaign for Summer Learning is led by Summer Learning Advocates, a 501(c)4 organization created by the National Summer Learning Association. Summer Learning Advocates is dedicated to increasing federal, state and local funding for high-quality summer learning programs for youth. We engage in advocacy efforts and mobilize grass roots support for funding and policies that will enable more children to participate in high-quality summer learning programs.
